Kevin Morby

LITTLE WIDE OPEN

Kevin Morby has always had a way of making big ideas feel intimate, and Little Wide Open continues that thread in quietly powerful fashion. It’s an album that doesn’t rush to impress you — instead, it settles in slowly, like a conversation you didn’t realise you needed.

Morby's back catalogue has occasionally touched on soul and jazz but its foundation remains well-crafted Americana that draws on Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Tom Petty and Leonard Cohen. Across these songs, Morby leans into a softer, more reflective sound, built around warm instrumentation and unhurried arrangements.

Lyrically, Little Wide Open is rooted in reflection and everyday details. Kevin Morby has a way of taking quiet, ordinary moments and giving them real emotional weight without ever overdoing it.

Little Wide Open is understated, thoughtful and deeply human, exactly the sort of record that reveals more the longer you listen to it.

With help from Aaron Dessner, Bon Iver and Lucinda Williams, the Americana artist shares his uncertainties around his roots and relationships in unhurried, subtly melancholic songs.
