Formed at Keele University in 1974, Omson Greme played wilful, experimental, yearning, whimsical, literate, wry, humorous, and sad progressive rock, a strange mash-up of Canterbury, folk, and Krautrock. Their nearest reference point is Audience's Friends, Friends, Friend era, but their powerful melodic sound is all their own.

They recorded a 25-copy-only private press live LP in 1975 that is still being restored for release, as the sound quality is truly, deeply terrible. Here, though, we have a crisp radio broadcast and excellent studio sessions that showcase them at their very best.

The world, sadly, did not sit up and take notice, so a couple of years later they gave up on progressive music and transmuted into the punk band The Exits, whose only EP now fetches £750 or more.
